Areas of Expertise
Spiritual care
I support people on their journeys of exploration of purpose, meaning, identity, and belonging. Through providing spiritual care, I support people in making meaning from these and other existential matters, regardless of whether one is religious or not.
Spiritual direction
Through spiritual direction, I offer you gentle, skilled companionship in exploring your relationship with the sacred. This includes beliefs, practices, and ways of connecting that aim to bring you a greater sense of peace.
About me
As a child, I watched the images of the 1985 Ethiopia famine on television, intuitively sensing the randomness by which someone could be born into starvation or relative luxury. After studying psychology at Georgetown University, I embarked as a public health volunteer with the Peace Corps in Guinea, West Africa. There, I felt a strong fulfillment of many of my core spiritual needs: connection, community, love, belonging, identity, and purpose. Upon returning to the US, I completed a dual Master’s in Development Management and MBA at American University in 2001.
Over the next two decades, I worked in the field of international development, humanitarian assistance, and corporate sustainability. Engaging across the private, public, and nonprofit sectors taught me how challenging it can be to maintain one’s unique sense of purpose amid challenging circumstances.
In 2013, my older brother died from a glioblastoma brain tumor. This period opened me up to deep exploration of questions about childhood, death, and the many things that happen in between. During this time of intense meaning-making, I sought grounding in Buddhist philosophy, yoga, meditation, and 12-Step recovery.

In 2017, I left full-time employment to begin freelance work with international development NGOs. The space allowed me to train as an interfaith chaplain and complete my Master of Divinity (MDiv) degree at Iliff School of Theology, with a concentration in spiritual care. I also completed a 500-hour yoga teacher training at Laughing River Yoga. In 2022, I obtained my Board Certification from the Association of Professional Chaplains. In 2024, I began training in spiritual direction through the San Francisco Theological Seminary.
I continue to work as a hospital chaplain, providing spiritual care to those of all faiths and none. I incorporate yoga philosophy and techniques into my work where appropriate. I am particularly passionate about gender equity and social inclusion.
